This photo art series combines photography from around the world with my sketches representing connections. Throughout the COVID pandemic years, we had been isolated in our homes, in our cities, and in our countries, due to various restrictions and lockdowns in the fight against the virus. Yet we were all connected by this global issue. The world can continue to stand united in the fight against global issues including racism and war. To encourage peace and unison amongst world citizens, I created these pieces to represent this relationship. While residents located on the different continents are oceans apart and physically separated, it is also these oceans that connect the continents' landmasses together. In this series, I demonstrated the theme of "Oceans Apart, Yet Connected" through photographs of bodies of water captured in various parts of the world, combined with my sketches symbolizing ocean waves joined by woven patterns. The images span from Japan and Italy to Canada and the Caribbean.
